Heritagefest 2012

Silat Pusaka by Sri Warisan Som Said Performing Arts.

This year Heritagefest came and went without much fanfare compared to previous years. Performances were only during the weekends at various shopping malls around singapore. This was one event not to be missed.

Children Society`s Walk for Our Children 2012

Had the opportunity to photograph this event. Guest of Honor was Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam to flag off the participants.

D'J Party Streetfest 2012

Not only there was cosplayers, there were also various live bands performing during the event. Unfortunately i had to work so could only be there for a short time. The turnout was quite good. Saw quite a number of Pentax users as well which is terrific.

Starcraft 2 WCS Singapore Nationals 2012

Held recently at Funan the IT Mall, this tournament decides who would represent Singapore. Congrats to Flash eSport and overall champion, Marcus "Revenant" Tan.

2012 Asia Global Bellydance Competition

Male bellydancers is not something you see everyday but even more rare was his performance of the saber dance. This set is usually reserved for very very grand occassions. His skill and something rare, no wonder he won the Singapore open held earlier.

Matt Granger "ThatNikonGuy" Singapore Photowalk

ThatNikonGuy was in town recently and i had the privilege of joining him and others around the alleys and various areas of Chinatown. More interesting was what he chose to photograph.

Aaron Tan Mien Shawn, NDP 2012 Music Video Director

Had the fortunate opportunity to meet and talk with him as he was doing a interview at the Floating Platform with Rolling Cam Studio. I was doing the behind the scenes photography of the interview. Learnt about quite a number of things from him also.

NDP 2012 Theme Song - Love at First Light

Meeting People.

Doing NDP 2012 photography, i meet and talk with a lot of people. One of the more interesting people that come to mind is the chinese security guard uncle at the Floating Platform during the weekdays. No one would have guess that he was actually one of the 1st BMT recruits. He definitely had a lot of stories to tell and quite a lot is not in the history books. He even played football with legend such as Quah Kim Song and boy does he have stories to tell just on that alone.

He has a photo of the old Singapore Football team next to his guard desk.

National Day Parade 2012 NE2 Fireworks

It seems like more elaborate fireworks are being used from what i saw on saturday. Looks like Actual Day and Preview will be quite an awesome spectacle and should not be missed by anyone who likes to see fireworks.

A Sunset from City Hall.

Seriously the sunset is very nice. I dont normally get an opportunity for these kind of shots but now that i have that opportunity, it truly is a majestic wonder to behold.

Last week NDP 2012 was again a rainy affair but thankfully, it was only trickling by the time the show started. VIP of the day was Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Han. As to be expected, the fireworks display was about 80% of the actual day NDP fireworks and the airforce decided to make things a little more exciting. Coming performances will be a good time to have super telephoto lens and ultra wide angle for the aerial show as well as the fireworks.

CATS Car-nival RaceQueen Pageant 2012

It was a nice weekend being able to photograph them and some of the models there were Razer models as well. As usual, the army of photographers converged there as well so it was luck that i found a nice vantage point. I really wonder wonder how the judges give the points to decide who would be the winner.

NDP 2012 Full Dress Rehearsal was a blast!

It was a rainy day but that did not dampen the spirits of participants and audience. Even the airforce supposedly cancelled, performed their show when the weather improved so as not to disappoint the guests who braved the rain. The people involved were full of enthusiasm and that reflected in just how smooth everything went. Just that too bad there were no VIPs in attendance to officiate the event. The fireworks themselves was rated about 50% of what we will see during NDP. The goody bag itself was very generous as it was filled with enough food for a small picnic. Being part of this grand event is certainly an eye opening experience.

Cosfest 2012

Had a fun time there. Saw old friends and made new ones. Great performances by all the teams and nice cosplaying whether old or new. Even got certified by the Master himself. Seriously, i and a few friends could have made better use of the media platform...ah well.

Trying the Lowepro Versapack 200 at RP`s Ignite Music Festival 2012.

Its similar as to how i use a belt system just that using a backpack like this, unlikely people will just open a pouch and grab something which do happen at such gigs especially if the pit area damn very small. Unlike larger bags which usually they put somewhere and hope it is still there or they carry and risk it getting knocked by the over-excited audience, i can simply swing the versapack to my front for even more added security without it disturbing my aim. There they were selling canned drinks for $1 each. I had already loaded up the versapack personal storage compartment with drinks i bought much cheaper outside which lasted me till time to go. If my shoulders felt tired, all i had to do was lock the chest buckle and waist buckle which would take quite a lot of the strain off my shoulders. Good thinking there on the part of Lowepro. Below the bag was tripod holders but i fixed a jacket to it instead in case heavy rain at night or becomes freezing cold. Thankfully great weather and even greater music.

Tmw, will use this bag to photograph a certain large scale event.

A New Start

Boy was i so busy barely remembered i had a blog here. I was inundated by events especially sports ones. Well compared to where i was when i started this blog back then, things have gone up and in some cases literally. My equipment has increased and my skills have also developed and obviously so have my rates. My client base is more or less on a permanent basis and soon i will be doing what i have been dreaming about ever since i started photography. A lot of thanks have to be given to the people who have supported me throughout this time. Again thank you.
